MLP 'Princess Luna' (ElectroChemical Etching) by Ksander-Zen MLP 'Princess Luna' (ElectroChemical Etching) by Ksander-Zen
My first experience electrochemical etching of metal.
The result is not very good, but my first experience etching (chemical using ferrous chloride) was terrible: ksander-uno.tumblr.com/image/8…

Oh man, I want one of these so badly! I'm not sure what you mean by the result not being very good, I honestly can't think of a way that this could look any better. It's so cool!

Unfortunately, because of the destruction of the "mask", in some places there were stains. Ideally, the image should have been smooth without unnecessary cavities.

Hmm..I see.  Honestly, I find grunge effect of the cavities to be one of the most attractive features of the piece, but I'm curious: Do you think these results would be easy or even possible to replicate?

Probably yes. The difficulty lies in choosing the right material for the "mask." It should be resistant to aggressive media and heat. At the moment I put the experiments with a mixture of bitumen-varnish, turpentine and rosin.
